Box Score

The Upper Iowa baseball team hosted the Mavericks of Minnesota State in a non-conference affair in Fayette today. The Peacocks scored first in game one, but an error-filled second inning led to a big hole for the home team. UIU would rally, but fell short in game one, 10-7. In game two, Upper Iowa continued to hit well at the plate and put runs on the board. The Peacocks scored 7 runs again, but this time played good defense behind a stellar pitching performance from sophomore Lucas Wilsing. Wilsing picked up his second win and his first complete game as the home team took game two by a 7-1 score.

Marcus Thompson led the Peacocks at the plate on the day going 6-7 with a double and a homerun. The junior drove home five runs while scoring three. Seth Fox hit 4-5 with two rbi's and a run scored.

Wilsing sparkled in his start. The sophomore threw seven innings scattering three hits and only allowing one run on a homerun. The southpaw struck out four while only walking one.

Upper Iowa will return to Robertson Woods Field in Fayette this weekend for a four game set with UM, Crookston. Saturday's double header will begin at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday's action will start at noon.
