Box Score

The Upper Iowa men's basketball team played host to the MSU Moorhead Dragons on Friday night in a game that matched the 5th and 7th place teams in the Northern Sun. The two teams played through a physical first half much like the first half of the game played in Moorhead, Minnesota one month ago. UIU held a slim three point lead at halftime. The Peacocks, led by A.J. Adkins, played very well in the second half and outscored the Dragons by five to take the victory 64-56.

The Upper Iowa players were mentally and physically tough as they hit several baskets while being fouled and earning some bonus free throws for their efforts. The Peacock press gave the Dragons problems from the outset as the visitors turned the ball over 23 times.

Matt Lesan led the Peacocks in scoring with 14, while Adkins netted 13. Dan Bestul added 11 points, while Jude Roybal chipped in 8, dished out 8 assists, and nabbed 4 steals. Lesan also led the Peacocks on the boards with 6.

The Peacocks will return to action tomorrow night to battle the Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul. The game will be the Peacocks final home game of the regular season and UIU's seniors will be honored prior to the game. Tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
