Peacocks Sign DMACC Transfer to National Letter of Intent

Upper Iowa Men's Basketball

May 2, 2008

Upper Iowa University Head Men's Basketball Coach Brian Dolan announced today that Dylan Diedrich, from Charlotte, Iowa, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and basketball career at Upper Iowa.

Diedrich, a 6'0" guard, is transferring to Upper Iowa from Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, Iowa. After spending the 2007-2008 basketball season as a redshirt at DMACC, Dylan will come to UIU with four years of eligibility remaining. Dylan had an outstanding high school career leading Northeast, Goose Lake to a 85-16 record over his four years. During those four years, Northeast qualified for the Iowa State Tournament three times, finishing as high as fourth in 2006, when Dylan was a junior. He scored 1,630 points in his high school career including 25.1 points per game as a senior. Dylan was selected as an all-state player at the end of his junior and senior years and was a teammate of current Peacocks Neil Gross, Alex Kramer, and Matt Lesan on the Iowa Barnstormers AAU basketball club. Dylan plans to major in Criminal Justice at Upper Iowa.

"Dylan is a great final piece to this year's recruiting class, and we are fortunate he has decided to attend Upper Iowa University," Coach Dolan said. "Dylan had a stellar high school career leading his team to state three times. He possesses good point guard skills and is a lights-out shooter with tremendous range. After spending the year redshirting at DMACC under Coach Salmon, I am confident Dylan will come in this fall and contribute right away. The young man is a winner with a great work ethic, and we are looking forward to having him in our program over the next four years."

Diedrich is the fifth player to sign with Upper Iowa for next season. He joins an incoming class that already includes Austin Emerson (A-D-M), Mark Lafrenz (Tipton), Lee Parker (Nashua-Plainfield), and Keith Steffeck (Marion).

Upper Iowa University, located in Fayette, Iowa, is a member of NCAA Division II and the highly competitive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. UIU is the only NCAA Division II institution in the state of Iowa.
