The Upper Iowa Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Office of Student Development, will be supporting the Think Pink initiative on Friday, Feb. 15, at the Peacock Basketball double header with MSU Moorhead. Think Pink promotes breast cancer awareness and was established by the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association). The UIU women will face the Dragons at 6:00 p.m., while the men from both teams will take the floor at 8:00 p.m. "The Think Pink initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The WBCA began Think Pink in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year of the WBCA's Think Pink a success." Peacock fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. Both the Peacock and Dragon women's basketball teams will be wearing Think Pink warm-up shirts prior to and during the ball game. Fans can get pink ribbon stickers, wristbands, and bracelets in the Bob and Betty Firth Lobby in Dorman Gymnasium. |
