The Northern Sun Conference has named their Softball All-Conference Teams and two Peacocks have earned the honor. Nikki Davis (Lovington, Illinois) was named to the NSIC All-Conference First Team, while Kami Appelt (Marysville, California) was named to the NSIC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. Davis earned first team honors as a designated player finishing the regular season as the Peacock batting average leader at .380. The junior tallied 41 hits in 108 at bats including 8 doubles and 2 homeruns. Davis scored 7 runs while driving in 17 for the season. In 17 NSIC games, the designated player hit .364 while rapping out 20 hits including 5 doubles. She drove 10 rbi in the conference season. Davis was also a solid pitcher as she threw 136.2 innings on the season allowing 52 earned runs on 156 hits. She registered a record of 8-10 in her 24 appearances, 20 of which were starts. The senior posted an overall ERA of 2.66, while opponents hit .277 against the right hander. In NSIC games, Davis threw 75.2 innings in 13 appearances, 10 of which were starts. She gave up 12 earned runs on 70 hits and posted an ERA of 1.11. NSIC batters were only able to manage a .232 batting average against her. Appelt earned the honorable mention recognition as a third basemen finishing the regular season with a .293 batting average. The junior collected 34 hits in 116 at bats including 8 doubles and 3 homeruns. Appelt scored 16 runs while driving in 14. In 16 NSIC contests, she batted .321 accumulating 17 hits including 2 doubles and 2 homeruns. She scored 6 runs and drove in 7 Peacock runners against NSIC pitching. The Peacocks finished the regular season with a 12-29 record overall and a 9-9 mark in their second season in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The team qualified for the NSIC Tournament as the #6 seed and will open play in the tournament against the Wildcats of Wayne State in Marshall, Minnesota. The first pitch for the game is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday morning, May 3. The NSIC tournament is a double elimination tournament. |
