AMHERST, Mass. - For his first recruiting class at UMass, new head football coach Charley Molnar signed 24 players to National Letters of Intent as announced on Wednesday. The class represents 11 different states including 19 from the Northeast Region. The group represents the first full Football Bowl Subdivision recruiting class for the Minutemen as they begin competing in the Mid-American Conference next Fall.

The class also includes three players who enrolled for the Spring Semester at UMass after fulfilling postgraduate work during the fall of 2011: Jaurice Jones, Derek Beck and Rodney Mills.

"We are extremely pleased with this recruiting class and what they mean to the future of the UMass football program," said Molnar. "With this class, we have increased our size on the offensive line, improved improved team speed especially in the defensive back and wide receiver positions, have added immediate help at defensive end, and added depth at several other key positions."
