Four Carolina Swimmers Headed to NCAA Women's Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Four members of Coach Rich DeSelm's women's swimming and diving team have earned invitations to the 2008 NCAA Championships to be held March 20-22 at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Senior Kelsey Morrissy, junior Whitney Sprague, sophomore Alison Clemens and freshman Katura Harvey all achieved automatic "A" qualifying times earlier this year and were chosen for the meet. A year ago, Sprague was an All-America in two events, including a third-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle. The Bronxville, N.Y., heads to this year's meet at the No. 1 seed in the 1650 with a time of 15:51.02. Sprague is also the No. 5 seed in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:41.09 and the No. 58 seed in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:48.36. The Tar Heel divers will compete this weekend, Friday through Saturday, in Auburn, Ala. at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships. Zone qualifiers would move on to the NCAA Championships the following week. |
