CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior Ryan Funderburk finished fifth in competition Sunday and Monday at the United States Diving 2008 Speedo Senior National Spring Championships in the preliminaries of the three-meter diving event.

The Tar Heel senior from Summerfield, N.C. placed fifth with a score of 349.70 points. He will dive in the semifinals on Thursday. The top 24 qualifiers from the preliminaries qualify and the top eight finishers from that group move on the 2008 Olympic Trials.

Senior Erika Matheis will compete Monday in one- and three-meter women's diving events.
