Zimmerman & Hunt Featured Friday On ESPN/Inside Lacrosse Live Chat

March 13, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--UNC junior midfielder Ben Hunt of Arnold, Md. and Tar Heel junior goalkeeper Grant Zimmerman of Cockeysville, Md. will participate Friday at 2 p.m. in the weekly ESPN/Inside Lacrosse Live Chat. Hunt is the reigning Nike/Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week this week while Zimmerman is the current ACC Player of the Week coming off their performances in an 8-6 win over No. 5 Notre Dame last Saturday.

Saturday the Tar Heels travel to Koskinen Stadium in Durham. N.C. to play top-ranked Duke at 3 p.m. The game will be telecast live on the World Wide Web on ACC Select. Both teams are undefeated. UNC is 5-0 after a road win last Tuesday at Providence 8-6.

The game is worth one point in the 2007-08 Carlyle Cup standings. The Carlyle Cup is an all-sports trophy which North Carolina and Duke compete for on an annual basis. In the first seven years, UNC has won it three times, Duke three times and one year there has been a tie. In the past three years UNC has won twice and tied the other year. Going into the men's lacrosse game, UNC leads this year's standings 14-3. Schools need 13 points in the standings to clinch a tie and 13.5 points to clinch a win.

There is no admission charge for Saturday's North Carolina-Duke match at Koskinen Stadium. UNC is looking to end a six-match losing streak against the Blue Devils. Prior to that UNC won three in a row from 2002-04. The last Tar Heel win was March 20, 2004 at Koskinen Stadium when UNC rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime and then won in sudden death 10-9 on a goal by junior midfielder Lance Zimmerman, Grant's older brother.

In all the two teams' meetings, dating to 1952, UNC has a 37-20 series lead.
