Four Tar Heels Chosen For ACC's All-Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Four members of the University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team are amongst those chosen forthe 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Tar Heel representatives on the team include junior goalkeeper Grant Zimmerman and a troika of freshmen -- defenseman Ryan Flanagan and midfielders Michael J. Burns and Chris Hunt.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

Six players, including Zimmerman, earned both All-Academic and All-Conference honors in 2008.

Burns is a red-shirt freshman majoring in history who made the team for the second successive year. Zimmerman is a redshirt junior majoring in Management & Society and Flanagan and Hunt are both freshmen, who will officially declare majors during the upcoming school year.
