Carolina Rowers Earn National Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Five North Carolina rowers have earned national honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). Senior Lisy McIntee has been named to the CRCA All-South Region first team, and four Tar Heels have been named CRCA National Scholar Athletes. McIntee, a senior from Bala Cynwyd, Pa., earned all-region honors for third time in her career. She was a second-team selection in 2006 as a sophomore and has been named to the first team the last two years. She went on to earn second-team All-America honors in 2007. A peace, war and defense major and three-time All-ACC selection, McIntee graduated from UNC in May. Diane Reynolds, Chandler Sours, Katie Wood and Ruby Woodside were named CRCA Scholar Athletes. Reynolds, a rising junior from Shelby, N.C., is majoring in business. Sours, a rising senior from Atlanta, is working toward a double major in biology and psychology. Wood, a rising senior from Cornelius, N.C., is majoring in business. Woodside, a rising senior from Natick, Mass., is majoring in chemistry. The award requires a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Sours and Woodside also were honored in 2007.
