McIntee Earns Second All-America Nod
July 8, 2008
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - For the second time in her career, North Carolina rower Lisy McIntee has earned All-America honors, as selected by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). In earning a spot on the second team in back-to-back years, McIntee became the first rower in UNC program history to earn All-America honors more than once. "We are extremely proud of Lisy for her second All-America honor," Tar Heel coach Sarah Haney said. "Lisy worked extremely hard on and off the water here at UNC to improve not only herself, but our program. She is a selfless teammate who will lead people in a positive direction. She is one of the best to come through Carolina, so we are delighted that she has been rewarded for her efforts." McIntee, a senior in 2007-08, was a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference and three-time all-region selection during her career. She is one of only four student-athletes in ACC history to earn all-conference rowing honors three times. A peace, war and defense major from Bala Cynwyd, Pa., McIntee graduated from UNC in May. Other Tar Heel rowers to have earned All-America honors are Erin Neppel and Dana Peirce, both of whom were named to the second team in 2001. 2008 CRCA All-America Teams First team: Gabriele Albertaviciute (Ohio State); Mara Allen (California); Jennifer Barnes (Minnesota); Liene Bertasjus (Southern California); Kelsie Chaudoin (Virginia); Karen Colwell (Michigan); Anne Cowan (Michigan State); Jennifer Cromwell (Virginia); Tess Gerrand (Yale); Kristin Haraldsdottir (Princeton); Ashley Jones (Washington); Anna Kendrick (Harvard); Laura Lea Larsen-Strecker (Harvard); Steph Morrison (Stanford); Irena Neffeova (Washington State); Taryn O'Connell (California); Emma Olson (Brown); Amanda Polk (Notre Dame); Jessi Reel (Stanford); Taylor Ritzel (Yale); Krystina Sarff (Central Florida); Jessica Stage (Brown); Suzanne Van Fleet (Clemson); Sarah Wu (Brown)
