Men's Track Competes at IC4A Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Rhode Island men's indoor track & field team competed at the IC4A Championships this weekend at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.

Senior Yudehwheh Gbaa (Providence, R.I.) had the Rams' best finish of the afternoon, placing third in the triple jump with a leap of 50-01.75. In the pole vault, junior John Carstensen (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded a seventh-place finish with a vault of 16-00.75.

Senior Michael Bernardo (South Attleboro, Mass.) competed in the weight throw and finished eighth with a throw of 60-03.00. Sophomore Michael Russell (Preston, Conn.) placed 15th in the long jump (20-11.75) while junior Tyler Adams (Newport, R.I.) notched a throw of 49-05.75 in the shot put to finish 17th.

The URI 4x400m relay team of freshman Cameron Cormier (Bangor, Maine), senior Stephen Mateka (Sewell, N.J.), senior Brendan Lamboy (Warwick, R.I.) and freshman David Kennedy (Essex Junction, Vt.) placed 10th with a time of 3:17.55.
