Five Rowers Honored by CRCA

KINGSTON, R.I. - University of Rhode Island sophomore rower Rebecca Cotreau has been selected to the 2008 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) New England Second Team while Karin Fulkerson, Nicole Klaiber, Linnea Rowse, and Lucy Sumners were each named CRCA Scholar Athletes.

A member of the Varsity 8 boat, Cotreau (Nashua, N.H.) helped the Rams capture the first Atlantic 10 Championship in school history and a second-place finish at the ECAC Metro Championship.

Fulkerson (Amelia, Ohio) is an Ocean Engineering and Marine Biology major who holds a 3.58 GPA and was a member of the Varsity 4 for the Rams this season. Klaiber (Clifton Park, N.Y.), meanwhile, is a Psychology major who holds a 3.55 GPA and was a member of the Varsity 8. Rowse (Burnsville, Minn.) has a 3.88 GPA as a Wildlife and Conservation Biology major as a member of the Varsity 4 Petite boat, and Sumners (Gainesville, Fla.) is an Art History major with a 3.59 GPA and was a member of the JV 8.

To be eligible to be selected as a CRCA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must possess a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year). They must also have competed in 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event, and be in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of eligibility.
