COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Rhode Island nearly pulled the upset tonight at No. 10 Texas A&M, dropping a hard-fought 3-2 decision at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.

The Aggies got on the scoreboard first, finding the back of the net at the 10:24 mark on an unassisted tally. Texas A&M added another goal almost 10 minutes later, at the 20:18 mark.

Freshman Courtney David trimmed the deficit to 2-1, scoring her first collegiate goal at the 25:43 mark. It was an unassisted score. The home team made it a 3-1 halftime lead, after tallying a goal at the 30:59 mark.

Late in the second half, newcomer Ina Bjorklid scored her first goal in a Rhody uniform, off a pass from Sarah Helldoerfer at 79:01. That score made the game, 3-2 - the eventual final score.

The Rams were outshot, 10-3, on goal - but were efficient, scoring on two of their three chances. Sophomore Jackie Fede made seven stops in net for URI. Rhody was whistled for 16 fouls to 12 for TAMU.

It was the first time since the 2006 season that Rhody faced a team ranked among the top 10 nationally. On Sept. 3, 2006, URI faced No. 8 ranked Portland.
