KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island women's swimming and diving program have been recognized by the College Coaches Association of America for its academic achievements this past fall.

Of the 41 student-athletes on the Rams' roster this season, 25 recorded a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0. Sixteen of those student-athletes were on the Dean's List in the fall of 2007. The team's combined GPA of 3.03 placed them in the `Excellence' category by the CSCAA.

Amongst the 16 student-athletes who were named to the Dean's List were sophomore Johanna Buchta (Nashua, NH), freshman Rosmin Ennis (Nashua, N.H.), freshman Melissa Flynn (Andover, N.J.), senior Cherisa Friedlander (Attleboro, Mass.), sophomore Lindsay Heimburg (Wayne, N.J.), sophomore Haley Johnson (East Longmeadow, Mass.), senior Renee Lavoie (West Warwick, R.I.), junior Andrea LeBarge (Lee, N.H.), junior Kelly Mohr (Meriden, Conn.), freshman Megan O'Brien (Whitefish Bay, Wisc.), sophomore Kiersten Oresman (North Providence, R.I.), freshman Lauren Sasso (Orange, Conn.), freshman Samantha Veccia (Medford, N.Y.), freshman Tory Waldeisen (South Windsor, Conn.), freshman Jenna Waldron (South Windsor, Conn.), and sophomore Maura Zaneski (Waterford, Conn.).

URI will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships, which will be held at St. Bonaventure University, beginning March 20.
