Day One Recap

DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of Rhode Island finished fifth at the 2008 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championship, held at Atkins Track on the campus of the University of New Hampshire.

The Rams totalled 58 points in the meet. Boston College took first place, with 131 points.

In the second day of competition, Sarah Thornton captured the discus throw. She won gold with a toss of 151-00.

Caitlin Hurley finished seventh in the 100m dash, clocking 12.71 seconds. Kolleen McCauley was also seventh in the 800m run, crossing the finish line in 2:12.21. TyLynn Graham was eighth in the 100m hurdles, in a time of 14.84 seconds.

Graham and Shayna Daugherty tied for second in the high jump, clearing 5-07. Jackie Chiodo was eighth (5-05). Jasmine Jennings was eighth in the shot put (43-07.75).

Rhody's 4x400m relay squad was fifth (3:53.89), while the 4x100m relay was seventh in a time of 48.78. The 4x800m relay was sixth (9:29.12).
