USC Begins The Outdoor Season At First Day Of Trojan Invitational

    Trent Rule won the men’s 3000m race to highlight USC’s efforts during the first day of the Trojan Invitational today (March 17). There was a short slate of action today with the hammer throw and discus throws being contested at Long Beach State and the 3000m and 3000m steeple chase taking place at Loker Stadium on the USC campus.

    • Rule won the men’s 3000m meter race with a personal-best time of 8:35.58, winning the event by more than five seconds.

    Brittany Mann placed fourth in the women’s hammer throw with a best mark of 183-7 (55.97m). Tanya Sapa took seventh with a throw of 160-11 (49.04m).

    • David Sellens finished 12th in the men’s hammer throw with a top throw of 175-4 (53.44m). Jason Kim, in his first official meet as a Trojan, had a best mark of 146-1 (44.54m) to place 15th.

    The main portion of the Trojan Invitational will be held tomorrow at Loker Stadium from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The meet will also feature the L.A. City relay championships beginning at 10 a.m. Also beginning at 10 a.m. will be the women’s pole vault, women’s shot put and men’s and women’s long jump. There will be special recognition of USC’s seniors at 10:40 a.m. and the 4x100m relays begin at 11 a.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the entrance to the track.
