Lopes Leads Heptathlon After First Day At The Jim Klein Combined Events

    Lyndsey Lopes leads after four events in the women's heptathlon at the Jim Klein Combined Events meet hosted by Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif. today (March 23).

    She began the day by winning the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.29 (-1.0). That time earned her 938 points.

    Lopes then had a PR and took second in the high jump with a clearance of 5-7.75 (1.72m). She earned 879 points in the high jump.

    Her best shot put mark was 33-8.75 (10.28m) which was good for fourth in the event and for 548 points.

    Lopes closed out the first day with a time of 25.09 (+2.4) in the 200m which was the fastest time in the event and good for 879 points.

    Lopes will compete in the long jump, javelin throw and 800m tomorrow, beginning at noon with the long jump.
