USC's Erika Peyton, Nathan Bultman and Gabriella Cantrell got in a little extra work this weekend by competing at the Occidental Invitational in Eagle Rock, Calif. on May 7.

The redshirt junior Peyton placed second in the women's hammer throw with a best mark of 189-11 (57.88m). That throw was eight inches off her PR and tops among collegians as USC graduate Jade Grace won the event with a toss of 203-5.

In the men's hammer throw the freshman Bultman placed ninth with a best throw of 180-10 (55.13m). The athletes got four throws and Bultman fouled in his first three attempts, before sticking the 180-10 mark.

The sophomore Cantrell got some work in both the 100m and 200m races. She had the best times by a college runner in both races, finishing fifth in the 100m with a time of 11.77 (+0.4) and sixth in the 200m with a time of 23.86 (-0.1).

USC did not have any other current athletes competing, but former Trojan athletes Ginnie Crawford (12.91) and Melia Cox (13.25) finished 1-2 respectively in the 100m HH. Also, Carol Rodriguez won the women's 400m with a time of 52.90.
