USC Men & Women Ranked In Indoor T&F Preseason Top 10|

The USC men's team is ranked No. 6 and the women's team No. 4 in the U.S. Track & Field, Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) indoor preseason rankings it was announced today (Jan. 9). The Trojans will begin the indoor track and field campaign on Jan. 20-21 at the Rod McCravy Invite in Lexington, Ky.
The USC women's team tied for 10th last year at the NCAA Indoor Championships and return most of its scoring as Deanna Hill finished sixth in the 200m, Amalie Iuel third in the pentathlon, Margaux Jones eighth in the long jump and the 4x400m relay placed fourth. Only graduated senior Jaide Stepter who placed sixth in the 400m race is not back. The men's team tied for 27th as Eric Sloan placed fourth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump. It was in the triple jump where Sloan's hamstring injury caused him to pass on his final few jumps and to redshirt the outdoor season, before returning to reach the U.S. Olympic Trial finals in the triple jump. In addition, Nick Ponzio in the shot put and Randall Cunningham return, who both finished just outside of the scoring. Cunningham then went on to capture the NCAA outdoor high jump title.
This season USC will also feature a very strong freshmen class which includes among others 2016 National Gatorade T&F Athlete of the Year Michael Norman, 2016 California sprint champion T.J. Brock, 2016 Pan-Am Games 400m Hurdles Champion Anna Cockrell and former California state champions Courtney Corrin in the long jump and Zaria Francis in the 100m dash. In addition, the Trojans have returned to health 2015 Pac-12 110m hurdles champion Marquis Morris and All-American sprinter Just'N Thymes, 2015 Pac-12 Champion and All-American 100m hurdles champion Dior Hall and All-American sprinter Ky Westbrook. The women's team has also added All-American thrower Brittany Mann.
