USC's Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert was named the 2015 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) West Region Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year for the indoor season it was announced today (March 6).

Smith Gilbert picked up her second consecutive indoor USTFCCCA West Region Women's Coach of the Year honor as she led the USC women's team to its second straight Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) title and led the men to a second-place finish in their first season in the conference.

Since taking over the program before the 2013-14 school year, she has already won two indoor and one outdoor USTFCCCA West Region Women's Coach of the Year Awards and two MPSF Women's Coach of the Year Awards and she hasn't even completed her second indoor season.

The Trojan women won the 2105 MPSF team title with 111 points, 22 more than second-place Oregon. Smith Gilbert's women's team captured five MPSF titles and set one meet record.

Her USC women's team is currently ranked No. 10 in the country and has qualified seven entries into the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships to be held March 13-14 in Fayetteville, Ark.
