LOS ANGELES - men's swimmer Cristian Quintero and women's track and field discus thrower Alexandra Collatz were named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Mar. 2 - Mar. 8, on Monday, Mar. 9.

Cristian Quintero made history at the Pac-12 Championships while carrying the No. 11 Trojans to their first conference title since 1979. The senior swimmer led the Trojans to a program-high 818.5 points and claimed individual victories in the 100y, 200y, and 500y free. In doing so, Quintero become the first Pac-12 swimmer to sweep the competition in those events in one meet.

The senior was also a driving force in the relay events. The Trojans entered the final event of the championships with a three-point lead over Stanford. To secure the Pac-12 crown, Quintero anchored the 400y freestyle relay that also consisted of Ralf Tribuntsov, Santo Condorelli, and Reed Malone, as the Trojans finished with an `A' cut time of 2:49.50 to upend Stanford and claim first place. Quintero also contributed to USC relay wins in the 400y medley relay and 800y free relay. Ultimately, the senior was chosen as Pac-12 Swimmer of the Meet and made USC history by becoming the first Trojan since 2004 to win three individual races in one meet.

Also nominated for men's student-athlete of the week honors: Dante Flores (baseball).

Alexandra Collatz put on a showcase for the Trojans who won eight events at the CSULA Invitational. Collatz competed in the women's discuss throw, scoring a distance of 180-11 (55.14m) which was enough to claim first place over fellow Trojan, Tera Novy, who finished second at 176-08 (53.86m). Both Trojans beat the competition by over three meters.

The senior also finished second to teammate Jenny Ozorai in the hammer throw with a distance of 176-02 (53.70m). The USC track and filed team is next scheduled to compete on March 13-14 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville Ark. and at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton, Calif.

Also nominated for women's student-athlete of the week honors: Gabriella Then (golf).
