IUEL BREAKS HER NORWEGIAN RECORD -- Amalie Iuel opened up her 2017 hurdling campaign with a PR of 55.38 to win the Battle of the Bayou on April 8. That time is the collegiate leader, third all-time by a Trojan and broke her Norway national record (55.79) set last year.

COCKRELL HURDLES INTO USC TOP 10 LISTS -- It didn't take long for freshman hurdler Anna Cockrell to break into USC's top 10 lists. In her first collegiate 400m hurdles race at LSU on April 8, she took second to teammate Amalie Iuel (55.38) with a time of 55.51. That is the second-fastest time in the country currently and fourth-fastest all-time by a Trojan. It also set the USC freshman record, topping the previous record of 56.49 set by 2016 Olympic gold medalist Dalilah Muhammad in 2009. Cockrell also placed third in the 100m hurdles at the meet with a time of 13.18 (+0.3) which moves her into ninth on the USC 100m hurdles list.

ELLIS & SLOAN EARN PAC-12 HONORS -- USC junior Kendall Ellis was named the Pac-12 Track & Field Women's Track Athlete of the Week and senior Eric Sloan was named the conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 3-9. Ellis won the 400-meter dash at the Battle on the Bayou on April 8 with a meet-record time of 50.98. Her time is the collegiate leader and moves her from sixth to second on USC's all-time list in the event. It is an impressive early-season time as it would have taken third at the 2016 NCAA Championships. Sloan won the men's long jump at the Battle on the Bayou with a legal jump of 25-4.50/7.73m (+1.2). He won the event by nearly a foot and now has the top two long jumps in the conference, having posted a 25-7.50/7.81m mark last week, which ranks fifth in the country. It is the second Pac-12 Track Athlete of the Week honor for Ellis (April 13, 2015) and the first for Sloan. They become the fifth USC athletes to win Pac-12 T&F Athlete of the Week Awards this season, joining Nick Ponzio (March 21) and Deanna Hill (March 28) and Just'N Thymes (April 4).

HILL AND THYMES RETURN AFTER A WEEK OF REST -- Trojan sprinters Deanna Hill and Just'N Thymes did not travel with the Trojans last week to LSU, but are slated to run against elite college and professional runners this weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays. Hill has already run a wind-legal 11.18 100m dash which ranks fourth in the country and posted a time of 22.54 in the 200m during the indoor season. Thymes has run a 10.08 (+2.1w) 100m dash which ranks third in the country and posted a wind-legal PR of 10.14 on March 31. He also has posted the top 200m time so far this outdoor season of 20.24 (+2.1w) on March 25.
