LOS ANGELESUSC men’s track & field senior Aleec Harris and the women's sand volleyball duo of senior Kirby Burnham and freshman Sara Hughes were named USC's Student-Athlete's of the Week April 14-20.

USC senior Aleec Harris had a legendary performance for USC on Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. In the men's 110m HH Invite Elite race, Harris blazed to victory in a time of 13.32 (+0.1), which turned out to be a world-leading time. With his record-time, Harris beat the USC school record by just one hundredth of a second, edging out the 13.33 time held by Oscar Spurlock and Mark Crear. Not only did the Atlanta, Ga. native win with a legendary time, but also Harris defeated his volunteer assistant coach Ryan Wilson who finished with a 13.47 in fifth place. Prior to his career-race on Saturday, Harris' previous best time of 13.55 ranked ninth on USC's all-time list.

Prior to his world-leading performance in the men’s 110m HH, Harris began the day with the men's 4x100m relay Invite Elite race. Teaming up with senior Aaron Brown, junior BeeJay Lee and junior Bryan Mercado, the team came out second overall with a time of 39.84. That time was its second-fastest this season and second-fastest since the 2009 season. This weekend, led by Harris, the USC track & field team will compete in the Triton Invitational this week in San Diego, Calif.

Other USC men’s student-athletes nominated this week included: Wyatt Strahan (baseball) for leading his team to a 1-0 victory by throwing his first career complete-game shutout against Arizona, the top hitting team in the Pac-12; and Yannick Hanfmann (tennis) for upsetting the No. 1 player in the nation in singles and beating the No. 58 pair in the nation in doubles to help lead his team to close out their undefeated Pac-12 regular season.

USC women's sand volleyball pair of senior Kirby Burnham and freshman Sara Hughes had a monster performance for the Trojans this weekend at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, Calif. The dominant duo started the week on Saturday in the team Pac-12 Invitational as they won all three of their matches against pairs from Bakersfield, Arizona State, and Loyola Marymount. With their stellar play on Saturday, Burnham and Hughes became the first tandem in program history to reach the 30-win plateau and they led their team to the Pac-12 Invitational Crown.

On Sunday, Burnham and Hughes marched on with their success as they swept through four matches to win the inaugural Pac-12 Invitational pairs bracket championship. The Trojan tandem took home their fourth tournament pairs title of 2014. Their record on the season now stands at 34-3 and they now have remarkably won their last 26 matches. This week, led by their No.1 pairs team of Burnham and Hughes, the Women of Troy will travel to Tucson, Ariz., to face host Arizona and visitor Boise State in a pair of regular season-ending team duals this Saturday (April 26).

Other USC women’s student-athletes nominated this week included: Alex Moore (lacrosse) for stepping up with 4 goals and 2 assists over the week, including 3 goals and 1 assist in USC's huge upset over No. 13 ranked Stanford over the weekend; and Jessica Davis (track & field) for finishing 3rd in the 200m, 5th in the 100m, and also being a part of the 4x100m team who finished with their best time of the season.
