Harris Named Pac-12 Male Track Athlete Of The Week|
April 22, 2014
USC senior Aleec Harris was named Pac-12 Male Track Athlete of the Week (April 14-20) for his record-setting 110m hurdles race at the Mt. SAC Relays, it was announced by Commissioner Larry Scott today (April 22).
Harris won the 100m HH Invite Elite race with a time of 13.32 (+0.1) at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 19. His time established a new USC record, bettering the time of 13.33 set by Mark Crear in 1992 and matched by Oscar Spurlock in 2011. Harris' 13.32 is also the second-fastest time ever recorded by a Pac-12 hurdler and at the time was the world-leading mark this season. Among the athletes Harris defeated in his record-setting race was USC volunteer assistant coach Ryan Wilson, the reigning USA 110m HH champion.
Harris also ran the leadoff leg for USC's 4x100m relay team which placed second at Mt. SAC with a time of 39.84. That time was the second-fastest by a Trojan quartet this season and since the 2009 season.
Harris is the third Trojan to win Pac-12 weekly track and field honors, as Jessica Davis was named Pac-12 Female Track Athlete of the Week and Remington Conatser Pac-12 Male Field Athlete of the Week for the week of March 17-23.
