Trojans Fall in Exhibition to the NC Dinos 5-2|

LOS ANGELES - USC baseball fell to the visiting NC Dinos of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) 5-2 in exhibition on Wednesday evening at Dedeaux Field.
Trojan starting pitcher Connor Lunn (Carlsbad, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS) looked good, going four complete innings, only allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts and three walks to the 2016 KBO championship runner up.
After the Dinos got on the board first in the third inning, the Trojans answered in the bottom half with a run off a Dillon Paulson (Encinitas, Calif./Rancho Santa Fe Christian HS) RBI single, driving in Corey Dempster (South Pasadena, Calif./Loyola HS) who had a one-out single.
Freshman righty Michael Gates (Huntington Beach, Calif./St. Michael's Prep) was outstanding in 3.1 innings of work, not allowing the Dinos a hit.
The Dinos got to the Trojans in the ninth inning off reliever Brock Larson (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./USF), who entered in the eighth to pitch around a Dino in scoring position, but had trouble finding the zone in the ninth. The Dinos tallied four runs in the inning.
Then in the bottom of the ninth, AJ Fritts (Los Angeles, Calif./The Brentwood School) led off the inning with a solo home run to make it a 5-2 game.
Overall, the Trojans outhit the Dinos 7-3 in the game.
The Trojans continue the regular season on Friday, Feb. 24 when they open up a three-game series at Wake Forest.
