Trojan Offense Explodes for 13-6 Victory To Take Series at Arizona in Game Two|

TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 8 USC Trojans tallied 13 runs on a season-high 18 hits to defeat Arizona 13-6 in game two of the series at Hi Corbett Field on Friday evening.
Bobby Stahel (Needles, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) led the way with four hits, while Reggie Southall (Inglewood, Calif./Serra HS) led the team with four RBIs. Overall, six different Trojans (24-6, 6-2 Pac-12) had multi-hit days at the plate. 16 of the Trojans' 18 hits were singles, with only two extra base hits on the day in the form of one double apiece from Timmy Robinson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View HS) and David Oppenheim (Mercer Island, Wash./College of the Canyons).
Trojan starter Kyle Twomey (Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS) collected his fifth win of the year to improve to 5-1, going five complete innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking two.
The Trojans wasted no time in game two of the series, tallying seven runs on eight hits, all singles in the top of the first inning to put the Wildcats in a 7-0 hole. Starter Robby Medel was chased after facing seven batters and only recording one out and was on the hook for six earned runs on six hits in the start. The Trojans batted around in the inning, and Jeremy Martinez (Fountain Valley, Calif./Mater Dei HS), Dante Flores (Norwalk, Calif./St. John Bosco HS) and Blake Lacey (Clovis, Calif./Clovis HS) each had an RBI in the inning, while Southall and Stahel both drove in two runs apiece.
The Wildcats (22-8, 7-4 Pac-12) got on the board in the bottom of the third, as second baseman Scott Kingery connects on his second solo home run in as many days. An infield single from Bobby Dalbec plates Kevin Newman from third to make the score 7-2.
The Trojans added two more in the fourth on a sac fly from Martinez and an RBI double from Robinson. The team then struck for three more in the fifth inning as Southall brought in two on a single and two-base error and an RBI single from Stubbs that pushed their lead to 12-2.
The Wildcats answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull within six, 12-5, as they touched up reliever Mason Perryman (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield HS) for three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning. Bernardo Flores (Baldwin Park, Calif./Baldwin Park HS) entered and tallied his first save of the year, going 3.1 innings, allowing just one run on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Both teams got on the board in the eighth inning, making the score 13-6.
The Trojans will go for the series sweep at 12 p.m. PT tomorrow at Hi Corbett Field.
