EUGENE, Ore. -- The Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but were unable to hang on, as it was all Oregon from then on, falling 12-8 to the Ducks in game two of the series on Saturday afternoon at PK Park.

The Trojans (15-18, 5-6 Pac-12) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, as Timmy Robinson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View HS) first delivered a two-run home run and Frankie Rios (Lakewood, Calif./Long Beach Poly HS) doubled home the third run of the inning.

However, the lead was short-lived, as the Ducks (16-12, 6-5 Pac-12) got to starter Mitch Hart (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS). He was able to minimize damage in the bottom of the first, allowing just one run, stranding the bases loaded, but he could not get out of a similar jam in the bottom of the second inning. Hart's day was over as the Ducks loaded the bases with two walks and a single. Reliever Bernardo Flores (Baldwin Park, Calif./Baldwin Park HS) entered and got one quick out, but from then it was all Ducks, as they tallied a season-high seven runs in the inning on a total of five hits to take a commanding 8-3 lead.

The Ducks added individual runs in the fourth and fifth innings to push their lead to 10-3.

The Trojans battled back against Ducks starter Cole Irvin, adding two runs in the sixth inning. The first came on a Robinson RBI double, and then he came around to score, showing off the wheels as he took home on a wild pitch to make it a 10-5 game.

The Ducks extended the lead to 11-5 with a run in the seventh inning off Marrick Crouse (Dana Point, Calif./Dana Hills HS) who made his collegiate debut in the game. The highly-touted recruit put up a zero in the sixth, but allowed one in the seventh. Overall he went two complete innings, allowing one run on two hits with two walks and one strikeout.

The Trojans were not going to go quietly, however, touching up reliever Jack Karraker in the eighth for three runs, as AJ Ramirez (Phoenix, Ariz./Bakersfield Christian HS) and Angelo Armenta (Monrovia, Calif./Loyola HS) each drove in runs to pull the Trojans within three, 11-8.

However, the Ducks answered with one more in the bottom of the eighth to put the score at 12-8.

In the ninth inning against Ducks closer Stephen Nogosek, the Trojans were unable to put together a rally, despite a one-out walk by David Oppenheim (Mercer Island, Wash./College of the Canyons).

Cole Irvin earned his third win of the year for the Ducks, while Hart took the loss.

The Trojans will look to salvage the weekend in game three of the series on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT.
