LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team is ranked No. 12 in the D1 Baseball preseason Top 25 rankings, it was announced today.

This marks the first time the program has been ranked in the preseason since prior to the 2006 season when they were ranked No. 17. Also, the No. 12 ranking is the highest since the program’s preseason ranking of No. 6 prior to the 2003 season.

The Trojans will once again be under the leadership of fourth-year head coach Dan Hubbs, who has turned around his alma mater, leading them to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 10 years in 2015. The team is looking to build upon that experience, where they lost to the eventual national champion Virginia Cavaliers in the Lake Elsinore Regional Final.

Overall the team returns 20 letterwinners, including five starters, led by senior centerfielder Timmy Robinson who led the team in RBIs in 2015. The Trojans also return a strong pitching core, led by senior ace Kyle Davis.

The team will start the 2016 campaign on Friday, Feb. 19 as it hosts the University of North Dakota at 6 p.m. at Dedeaux Field.
