Huberman Named to NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award Watch List |

LOS ANGELES – USC senior left-hander Marc Huberman was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year watch list, given to the nation’s top Division I relief pitcher, it was announced today.
Huberman (Los Angeles, Calif./Hamilton HS) has the lowest ERA of any returning Trojan, boasting a 2.36 ERA from the 2015 season. He was second behind reliever-turned-starter Kyle Davis with four saves and led the way with 27 appearances out of the bullpen. Huberman threw 49.2 innings, striking out 48 batters. Overall his opponents batted .215 against him last season. In 2016, Huberman is slated to be the team’s closer, flashing brilliance throughout the fall and in practice throughout the spring.
Nominations for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award were made by baseball sports information/media relations contacts. The 2016 Stopper of the Year Watch List will be updated with a midseason release on Wednesday, April 27, including the national saves leaders. At the conclusion of the regular season, the Division I national saves leader and four other relief pitching standouts will be selected as finalists and released Wednesday, June 8, prior to start of NCAA Super Regional competition.
The NCBWA's All-America Committee will select the winner, with this year's recipient to be announced at the 2016 College World Series.
The Trojans, who are ranked 16th in D1Baseballl.com’s preseason poll, open up the 2016 campaign on Friday vs. North Dakota at Dedeaux Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. PT.
