Kevin Swick Earns Capital One Academic All-District VIII Honors

    Kevin Swick is a three-time Capital One All-District VIII honoree.

    LOS ANGELES, Calif. - For the third-straight year, senior infielder Kevin Swickwas named Capital One First Team District VIII All-Academic selection, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

    Swick (La Canada, Calif./Loyola HS) holds a 3.83 cumulative GPA as a business administration major at USC. He was one of five infielders selected to the first team of 12 student-athletes from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada.

    In 2013 Swick advanced to earn Capital One Academic All-American Third Team honors. He has been President of USC's Value Investing Club since 2011, where members attend Berkshire Hathaway meetings & compete in national pitch competitions. He has enacted a multi-year strategic plan to increase the prominence of the group on campus as well as its reputation for motivated and well-trained investors to enter the buy side.

    Swick spent the summer of 2013 away from baseball, interning for Fidelity Investments in Boston where he worked as an equity investment analyst. He wrote a report on traditional brick and mortar banks vs. direct (online) banks and pitched three different stocks. In the summer of 2012 he played in the Alaska Baseball League and interned for Alaska Permanent Capital Management where he created an asset report on commodities and analyzed emerging markets and the large impact they have on the supply and demand of commodities. In the fall of 2012 he worked for a member of the USC Marshall Undergraduate Student Investment Fund.

    He also worked on the Next Generation Bricks and Mortar Retail Investment Strategy in the fall of 2012. He is a member of the Dean's List from 2010-present. Swick is also a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. He is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree.

    On the field, Swick is batting .317 and has started 49 games for the Trojans at third base. He had driven in 19 runs and is tied for the team lead with 10 doubles. Swick is one of three Pac-12 baseball student-athletes to earn All-District honors. Washington State outfielder Collin Slaybaugh and Stanford infielder Danny Diekroeger were also named to the first team.

    As a first-team Academic All-District honoree, Swick will advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
