Ramirez Earns Pac-12 Player of the Week Honors|

LOS ANGELES - USC junior outfielder/infielder AJ Ramirez was named Pac-12 Player of the Week after an unreal week at the plate, where he went 9-for-18 with 12 RBI and helped the Trojans to a Pac-12 series win at Utah.
Ramirez (Phoenix, Ariz./Bakersfield Christian HS), who also earned Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week honors, batted .500 over four games and an incredible seven of his nine hits were for extra bases, with three doubles, two triples and two home runs (including his first collegiate grand slam). He had multi-hit outings in each of the Trojans four games on the week.
Against Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday, he went 2-for-3 with one run scored and two RBI as he tallied a double and his then-fifth home run of the year to lead the team. He had an even more impressive day at the plate on Friday at Utah, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, two doubles and one run scored as they Trojans defeated the Utes 12-7.
His best game of the week came on Saturday at Utah, as he was just a double shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 with a grand slam (the first of his career and his team-leading sixth home run of the year), a triple and a single to drive in a career-high five RBI. His grand slam proved to be the difference as the Trojans took game two, 8-5.
Then on Sunday he went 2-for-5 and drove in three of the Trojans' five runs on the day, blasting his second triple of the week.
Ramirez saw his average jump from to .230 at the start of the week to .261 due to his amazing week, and he started the week with 24 RBI and finished with 36, which puts him second on the team.
This is Ramirez's first Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and the 59th all-time for the Trojans.
The Trojans are back in action tomorrow as they host UC Irvine on Tuesday at 6 p.m. It will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.
