Murphy Named a California Collegiate League All-Star

    LOS ANGELES – USC redshirt freshman Kaleb Murphy, competing for the Ventura Halos this summer, has been named a California Collegiate League All-Star.

    Murphy (Apple Valley, Calif./Excelsior Charter HS) will compete in the CCL All-Star Game and prospect showcase at 7 p.m. PT tonight (July 13, 2016) at the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton, Calif. The game will be televised live on Fox Sports. Competing for the Ventura Halos, Murphy will be a member of the South squad.

    Murphy, a strong defensive catcher, has been impressive at the plate as well this summer. As of July 7, he led the Halos with a .390 average in 14 games played, tied for the team-high with 10 runs scored. He has four RBI, including two doubles and a triple on the year. He is one of three Halos who have been named to the roster.
