    Sept. 24, 2013

LOS ANGELES - USC baseball has two upcoming fall competitions as they host the University of San Diego on Sunday, Nov. 17 and travel to Long Beach State on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Under the leadership of second-year head coach Dan Hubbs and assistants Matt Curtis and Gabe Alvarez, the Trojans welcome the Toreros to Dedeaux Field for a contest beginning at 11 a.m. PT. The following weekend, on Saturday, Nov. 23, the Trojans are set to travel to Long Beach State for a 12 p.m. PT game at Blair Field.

The Trojans boast 27 returners, including the entire 2013 weekend rotation in senior lefthander Bob Wheatley (Villa Park, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS), junior righty Wyatt Strahan (Villa Park, Calif./Villa Park HS) and sophomore lefty Kyle Twomey (Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS). Behind the plate the Trojans now have an upperclassman in 2013 Pac-12 honorable mention selection Garrett Stubbs (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines HS). The Trojans also return junior infielder Dante Flores (Norwalk, Calif./St. John Bosco HS), who should give a big boost to the offense after missing most of 2013 with injury. Outfielders Timmy Robinson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View HS), Vahn Bozoian (Chino Hills, Calif./Ayala HS), and infielder Blake Lacey (Clovis, Calif./Clovis HS), all big contributors as true freshmen last season will be leaned on more as sophomores in 2014. Finally, the Trojans boast strong arms out of the bullpen in rising junior Nigel Nootbaar (El Segundo, Calif./El Segundo HS) and sophomores Kyle Davis (Garden Grove, Calif./Pacifica HS), Marc Huberman (Los Angeles, Calif./Hamilton HS) and Sean Adler (Northridge, Calif./Sierra Canyon HS).

Joining the returners are a strong group of 15 newcomers, led by highly decorated, three-time Team USA alum Jeremy Martinez (Fountain Valley, Calif./Mater Dei HS). Other standout freshmen include infielder/pitcher Jeff Paschke (Santa Barbara, Calif./Santa Barbara HS), who was named the fifth-best hitting prospect in the 2013 California Collegiate Summer League and outfielder Joe Corrigan (Santa Monica, Calif./Harvard Westlake HS), infielder/pitcher Aaron Digiamarino (La Verne, Calif./The Webb School) and infielder Frankie Rios (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly HS) were members of the elite So Cal Renegades club squad that finished second in the 2013 Connie Mack World Series. Three transfers were also brought into the fold with infielder Angelo La Bruna (La Canada, Calif./Duke), infielder/pitcher Sam Carmack (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Maryland) and pitcher Lee Casas (Ladera Ranch, Calif./Saddleback College).

Continue to check back with for the rest of the fall scrimmage schedule as it becomes available.
