    The USC Trojans (10-9, 1-5) will host the Stanford Cardinal (12-6, 3-3) at the Galen Center at 2 p.m. on Jan. 26. USC snapped a five-game losing streak on Thursday and is 8-2 at the Galen Center this season.

    USC Holds Off Stanford, 65-64
    Jio Fontan scored 15 points and Southern California survived a late rally by Stanford to win 65-64 on Thursday night.

    BREAKING DOWN THE CARDINAL - The Stanford Cardinal are coming off a 91-74 loss at UCLA on Jan. 23. Last week Stanford completed a home sweep of the Washington schools, defeating WSU 80-48 and Washington 79-67. Stanford has four players averaging in double figures through its first 18 games in junior guard Chasson Randle (19.2), senior forward Dwight Powell (14.3),redshirt junior guard Anthony Brown (13.2) and senior forward Josh Huestis (10.9). USC defeated Stanford both meetings last season, first winning 71-69 in Los Angeles and then 65-64 in Palo Alto. USC leads the all-time series, 122-120. USC is 9-5 in the last 14 games against Stanford with half of the games (7) being decided by five points or less.

    USC DEFEATS BEARS FOR FIRST PAC-12 WIN -- Nikola Jovanovic scored a career-high 23 points and USC led all the way in beating California 77-69 on Jan. 22 for the Trojans' first Pac-12 victory after an 0-5 start. Byron Wesley added 14 points and seven rebounds, Julian Jacobs and Pe'Shon Howard had 12 points each, while Howard had 10 assists for the Trojans. Justin Cobbs scored 22 points and Jordan Mathews added 18 for the Golden Bears. The Trojans were able to control the boards, 37-33, while dominating in the paint, 44-26. The Bears got within five points late in the first half before USC closed with a 6-2 spurt to lead 41-32 at the break. The Golden Bears got no closer than seven points in the second half. Cal was held to 39.3 percent shooting, while USC shot 51.9 percent from the floor.

    COACHES VS.CANCER SUITS AND SNEAKERS AWARENESS WEEKEND -- USC coaches will be participating in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And SneakersTM Awareness Weekend on Sunday. Each of the coaches will wear specially-designed pair of silver and white sneakers in support of the joint effort of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to empower basketball coaches to make a difference in the fight against cancer.

    OREGON STATE ON DECK - USC's next game will be at Oregon State (11-7, 3-3) in Corvallis, Ore. on Jan 30 at 6 p.m. The Beavers are 8-2 at home and seven of their last nine games have been decided by eight points or less, with the other two by 11 points. They will play at Washington Jan. 25 before hosting USC. Redshirt senior guard Roberto Nelson leads Oregon State and all conference players with a 21.7 scoring average. USC won its only meeting with Oregon State last season, 69-68 at the Galen Center. The Trojans are 10-5 in the last 15 games against Oregon State and own a 66-59 record in the all-time series.

    QUITE A SIX PAC OF GAMES -- USC is 1-5 in its first six Pac-12 games which were against UCLA, ASU, Arizona, Utah, Colorado & California, teams that have a combined 91-24 record this season. Included in that stretch for USC was three road games at places where the home team is a combined 38-3 on their courts.

    LET ME ASSIST YOU -- USC guards Pe'Shon Howard (10), Julian Jacobs (4) and Byron Wesley (4) combined for 18 assists and just three turnovers in the game against California on Jan. 22. The threesome also combined to scored 38 points.

    POWER IN THE PAINT -- Against California on Wednesday, USC's bigmen Nikola Jovanovic (23) and Omar Oraby (9) combined for 32 points on 12-for-15 shooting. They also had a combined nine rebounds and were a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

    A FEW KEYS TO VICTORY -- USC is 8-1 when Nikola Jovanovic scores in double figures and is 6-1 in games when Pe'Shon Howard has five or more assists. USC is also 7-0 when holding the opposition to under 70 points and 8-0 when holding them to a field goal percentage under 40 percent.

    OH, OH, ORABY -- Center Omar Oraby has 48 blocks this season and 95 in his Trojan career to rank tied for 8th on USC's all-time blocks list. He has at least one block in every game this season.

    SIGNS OF SLAM CITY -- USC had four dunks vs. California on Jan. 22 and now has out-slammed the opposition 54-26 this season. USC has eight games with at least four dunks, while the opposition has only two (5 - Villanova on Nov. 28 and 4- ASU on Jan. 9).

    GETTING TO THE LINE -- USC has taken 468 free throws through 19 games for an average of 24.6 per game. Last season through 19 games, USC averaged 18.3 free throw attempts (348 total). USC opponents this season have taken 20.2 free throws per game. USC has struggled at the free throw line this season (65.2 percent), but has made 82.1 percent of its free throws the last two games (32-for-39).

    OFFENSE BACK ON TRACK? -- USC made 51.9 percent of its shots, 35.7 percent from three-point range, and scored 77 points vs. California on Jan. 22. In the previous four games, USC produced a total of 241 points or 60.2 per game, including three of USC's lowest scoring games of the season. The 60 points vs. ASU on Jan. 9 vs. ASU were a season low before being held to 53 against Arizona on Jan. 12. USC then scored 66 points at Utah on Jan. 16 and 62 at Colorado on Jan. 18. Through games of Jan. 23, Arizona ranked 4th and Utah 20th in the country in fewest points per game allowed. USC shot 40.9 percent (90-for-220) from the field and 25.0 percent (13-for-52) from three-point range in those games.

    VOTE FOR ENFIELD -- USC head coach Andy Enfield has joined with 48 other top coaches around the country in taking part in the Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge which began on Jan. 6 and runs through March 16. The coaches will be competing for votes in a bracket-style format to raise money for their personal charities by counting on their fans to vote for them and advance them through the competition.     GOOD START AT HOME - USC won its first seven home games this season, the most consecutive home wins to start a season since winning the first eight home games of the 2009 season. USC is 8-2 at home this season and dating back to last season has won 10 of 12 home games.

    WHERE DID HE COME FROM? -- Sophomore forward Strahinja Gavrilovic scored a career-high 10 points vs. Arizona on Jan. 12 and followed that up with nine points at Utah on Jan. 16. Prior to those two games, Gavrilovic had scored a total of 21 points in USC's first 15 games. Gavrilovic has averaged 18.75 minutes the past four games and has played 75 of his 152 minutes logged this season.
