    The USC Trojans (5-0) will face the No. 23 Xavier Musketeers (5-0) at the AdvoCare Invitational at the HP Fieldhouse in Orlando, Fla. on Nov. 27 at 11:30 a.m. PT. USC is off to a 5-0 start for the first time since beginning the 2000-01 campaign 8-0. USC has also won five consecutive games for the first time since winning eight straight in the 2011 season.

    Trojans Hold Off Xavier to Cap Bahamas Tourney, 84-78
    Pe'Shon Howard scored 23 points for the Trojans (5-3), who, from the moment that Enfield didn't get the time-out he wanted, scored the next 13 points to start what turned into a 31-11 run over a 12-minute span.

    BREAKING DOWN XAVIER - Xavier improved to 5-0 with a 64-45 win against Alabama in an AdvoCare Invitational first-round game yesterday. Xavier also has wins over Miami-OH (81-72), Missouri (78-66), at Michgan (86-70) and Northern Kentucky (78-66). Four players are averaging double figures in scoring, led by Trevon Bluiett’s 14.4 points per game. The all-time series with Xavier is tied 1-1, with the Trojans taking the last meeting 84-78 on Nov. 30, 2013 at the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas.

    TROJANS SHOCK THE SHOCKERS -- Freshman Bennie Boatwright scored 15 of his team-high 22 points in the second half as the Trojans knocked off No. 20 Wichita State 72-69 in an AdvoCare Invitational first-round game in Orlando, Fla. on Nov. 26. Jordan McLaughlin added 15 points and Nikola Jovanovic had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Katin Reinhardt finished with 10 points, all in the second half. USC made 52.2 percent of its three-pointers (12-for-23) and 45.5 percent overall from the floor (25-for-55). It was USC’s first win over a ranked team since defeating No. 11 Arizona on Feb. 27, 2013.

    ON DECK, MONMOUTH OR DAYTON - USC’s next game will be against either Monmouth or Dayton. The winner of the USC-Xavier game will face the winner of the Monmouth-Dayton game in the championship on Nov. 29 at 1:30 p.m. PT on ESPN2. The other two teams will square off in the third-place game on Nov. 29 at 9:30 a.m. PT on ESPN2. Monmouth is 3-1 this season and is coming off a 70-68 win over Notre Dame yesterday. Monmouth also has wins over UCLA and Drexel and a 101-90 loss at USC on Nov. 16 in the first-ever meeting of the schools. Dayton is 4-0 after an 82-77 win over Iowa yesterday. USC leads the all-time series with Dayton 2-0 with overtime wins in the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

    TOP 25 TARGETS -- USC is seeking two wins over ranked teams in the same season since the 2010-11 season (No. 19/20 Texas, No. 19 Tennessee and No. 10 Arizona).

    J-MAC IS BACK - Sophomore guard Jordan McLaughlin, a Pac-12 All-Freshman selection a year ago despite missing the final eight games due to injury, has come back from labral repair surgery to both shoulders to average 19.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in his first five games. He also has 23 assists, 11 steals and a 11 three-point baskets.

    BACKCOURT BOOMING -- In the first five games, USC’s guards Jordan McLaughlin, Julian Jacobs and Elijah Stewart have combined to average 42.6 points, 14.8 rebounds and 12.0 assists per game. The trio has also averaged a combined 11.0 free throw attempts per game.

    MAKING A POINT - USC has scored 442 points in the first five games of the season, its most to start a season since scoring 446 in the first five games of the 1992 season. The last time USC scored more points in any five-game stretch was Dec. 4-20, 1995 when they tallied 461.

    BENNY BUCKETS - Freshman Bennie Boatwright scored a season-best 22 points vs. Wichita State on Nov. 26, including making 5 of 9 three-point attempts. Boatwright also had five rebounds, three steals and a block in the game. He now is averaging 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds this season. He leads USC in three-pointers made and is third on the team with 27 rebounds.

    NICE START ON THE BOARDS -- USC has won or tied in the battle of the boards in four of the five games with an average of 47.0 per contest. USC averaged 35.9 rebounds per game last season.

    TALL AND TALENTED FRESHMAN TANDEM - USC’s freshman class is comprised of forwards Bennie Boatwright and Chimezie Metu. Boatwright is 6-10 and averaged 27.8 points and 13 rebounds for Village Christian HS, en route to being named the CIF Southern Section Division 1AA Player of the Year. Metu is 6-11 and averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds for Lawndale HS, to earn the CIF Southern Section Division II Player of the Year. Despite foul trouble in his first two college games, Boatwright is averaging 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds. Metu has averaged 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds, while leading the team with 16 blocks.

    BETTER BE READY TO ROLL -- USC is 5-0 in a stretch of seven games in 17 days to start the season (Nov. 13-29).

    LET ME ASSIST YOU - USC has averaged 3.6 more assists per game than turnovers this season (18.2 to 14.6 per game). Last season, USC averaged 12.4 assists and 14.0 turnovers.

    DEFENSE COMING UP BIG - USC held Wichita State to 35.1 percent shooting on Nov. 26. It was the fourth time in five games this season that USC’s opponent shot under 40 percent in a game. USC has shot over 40 percent in each game this season.

    NICE VIEW FROM OUT HERE - USC made 52.2 percent of its three-point attempts yesterday (12-for-23) and has made 37 in its last three games (37-for-78, 47.4 percent). USC has 50 three-point makes in five games for an average of 10.0 per game this season. Last season USC made a total of 170 for an average of 5.3 makes per game.

    EVERYONE CHIPS IN -- USC has six players averaging 10.6 or more points and seven players have averaged 3.6 rebounds or more in the first five games. USC had five players score in double figures vs. Monmouth on Nov. 16, the first time it had accomplished the feat since five scored in double figures in a 78-62 win vs. Boston College on Dec. 8, 2013.
