Kick Times, TV Plans Set For 4 More Of USC's 2016 Football Games|
June 1, 2016
Kickoff times and television plans have been set for 4 more of USC’s 2016 football games, against Utah State, Stanford, Utah and California.
Last month, it was announced that the Trojans’ Sept. 3 season-opener against defending national champion Alabama at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex., will start at 7 p.m. CT (5 p.m. PT) and will air on ABC.
Following that game, USC’s home opener in the Coliseum on Sept. 10 against Mountain West Conference foe Utah State will kick at 11 a.m. PT and will be shown on Pac-12 Network. It is the earliest kickoff time for a Trojan home game since at least the early 1950s when complete records became available (a home contest against Loyola in the 1891 season began at 9:30 a.m.). The last time USC began a game before noon at home was the 1998 season opener against Purdue at 11:30 a.m. (the Trojans hosted Boston College in 2013 and Arizona State in 2012 in noon games).
The next week, USC plays the Pac-12’s first conference game of 2016 when it visits defending league champion Stanford on Sept. 17 in a game that will begin at 5 p.m. PT and air on ABC.
Troy then goes to Utah, which tied the Trojans for the 2015 Pac-12 South crown, for a Friday contest on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. MT (6 p.m. PT) on FS1. It will also be simulcast in Spanish on FOX Deportes.
A month later, USC hosts California on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. PT on ESPN in just the fourth non-holiday Thursday game that Troy has played in the Coliseum (in 2013, a Thursday home game against Arizona also started at 7:30 p.m.).
Start times and televising networks for USC's remaining 7 games will be made 6-to-12 days in advance of each contest.
The Pac-12 has television agreements with ESPN (including ESPN2, ESPNU and ABC), FOX (including FS1) and Pac-12 Network that will allow every conference football game to be shown live nationally in 2016.
