Sept. 10, 2014
LOS ANGELES - USC football placekicker Andre Heidari and women’s soccer midfielder Jamie Fink were each named USC’s Student-Athlete’s of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-7, on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
USC CREDIT UNION MEN’S STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Heidari provided a clutch performance on Saturday as his two field goals proved to be the deciding factor in the Trojans' 13-10 victory over No. 13-ranked Stanford. The senior placekicker made a 25-yard field goal to tie the game, and a career-long 53-yard field goal to claim the lead for the Trojans late in the fourth quarter.
With the Trojans tied, 10-10, with Stanford late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Cody Kessler and the USC offense marched 58 yards in nine plays to set Heidari up for a game-winning field goal attempt. With 2:30 remaining in the game, Heidari blasted a 53-yard field goal to give the Trojans the lead in dramatic fashion. The USC defense returned to the field to hold up Stanford’s offense and secure the win as time expired. Heidari and the No. 9-ranked Trojans travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass., Sept. 13, to face Boston College.
The other USC men’s student-athlete of the week nominee was Kostas Genidounias (water polo).

Jamie Fink led the charge for the Trojans in a dominating victory over UC Riverside, 8-1. In front of the home crowd, the Women of Troy showcased their talent, scoring a program-high eight goals, including three goals tallied by Fink.
The junior midfielder needed only three shots to achieve the hat trick, scoring back-to-back goals within a seven-minute span during the first half.
