LOS ANGELES – Freshman cornerback Iman Marshall and women’s basketball forward Temi Fagbenle were each named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 23-29, on Monday, Nov. 30.

Iman Marshall came through with a shutdown effort as the Trojans beat No. 22 UCLA, 40-21, to clinch the Pac-12 South title. The freshman cornerback’s stalwart play resulted in two interceptions and four tackles on the afternoon. Marshall’s first interception came in the third quarter when he picked off a short pass thrown by Bruin quarterback Josh Rosen. The interception was Rosen’s first in 245 pass attempts, the longest interception-free streak in the FBS.

Marshall continued to control the secondary in the fourth quarter with his second interception of the game to clinch the USC victory. Marshall is now tied with a team-leading three interceptions on the season. Up next, the Trojans face No. 7 Stanford in the Pac-12 championship game in Santa Clara, Calif., on Saturday (Dec. 5) at 4:45 p.m. PT.

Also nominated for men’s student-athlete of the week: Bennie Boatwright (basketball).

Temi Fagbenle established her dominance in the paint, as the Women of Troy remained undefeated after an impressive performance at the Naismith Hall of Fame Challenge. On the road in Spokane, Wash., Fagbenle scored 20 points in an overtime victory over West Virginia, and then led the Trojans with 21 points and four blocked shots in a 60-56 win over host Gonzaga.

In the finale against Iona, Fagbenle registered her third straight double-digit game with 16 points as the Trojans continued their hot start to the season with the 76-56 victory at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.  Now at 6-0 on the season, USC has matched its best season start since 1993-94. After a successful effort on the road, USC will play its next six games at home, beginning with a Friday (Dec. 4) clash against Southern Utah at 5 p.m. at the Lyon Center. On Sunday (Dec. 6), USC gets back to the Galen Center for a 2 p.m. matchup against UNLV.

Also nominated for women’s student-athlete of the week: Samantha Bricio (volleyball).

The USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week are voted on by the student assistants and Sports Information Directors of the USC Sports Information Office.
