Paolucci Leads No. 22 USC In Prestige 1st Round

    Junior Anthony Paolucci fired a 2-under 69 to lead the No. 22 USC men's golf team on the first day of the Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif., on Monday (Feb. 17).

    USC combined for a 4-over 288 to finish the first day in seventh, 19 back of Stanford, which produced with a sharp-shooting 15-under 269. San Diego State is second at 4-under 280.

    Paolucci, tied for seventh, carded his team-best seventh round in the 60s with a clean day that included three front 9 birdies against one bogey to go with nine pars on the back 9.

    Freshman Rico Hoey and juniors Eric Sugimoto and Paul Smith are tied for 34th at 2-over 73 while senior Jeffrey Kang is tied for 55th at 5-over 76.

    Action continues Monday and Tuesday.
