No. 1 USC Fourth After Goodwin First Round

    Freshman Justin Suh carded an even round while freshman Cheng Jin finished at 1-over to lead No. 1 USC in the first round of The Goodwin at the Stanford (Calif.) G.C. on Thursday (March 30).

    USC, a three-time winner this season playing for the first time this year ranked No. 1, finished fourth at a combined 5-over 285, nine strokes back of host Stanford.

    Suh, who tied for third in USC’s last event with Jin, topped USC with his even 70, tied for 11th. He was 1-under for most of the first round until a bogey on 18. Jin is tied for 18th with his 71.

    Senior Andrew Levitt and sophomore Sean Crocker are tied for 27th at 2-over 72 while senior Rico Hoey struggled to a 10-over 80. Junior Jonah Texeira, playing individually, tied for 39th.

    The Trojans will be part of the 12-team morning wave on Friday, starting at 7:30 a.m.
