Hoey Continues To Lead USC At U.S. Collegiate

    Freshman Rico Hoey remained USC's top performer with a 1-under second round while senior Jeffrey Kang and junior Anthony Paolucci posted par efforts to lead the men's golf team on the second day of the U.S. Collegiate Championship on Saturday (Oct. 19) at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga.

    The Trojans combined for a 1-over 289 and are now at 3-over 579 (290-289) to stay in ninth in the 15-team field. Oklahoma State took over first at 11-under 565 while host Georgia Tech is second at 10-under 566.

    Hoey is tied for ninth at 3-under 141 (70-71). He was 2-over through 8 before sinking four birdies over the next seven holes. He bogeyed 17 to finish the day 1-under and is six out of first.

    Kang remained tied for 25th at even 144 (72-72) while Paolucci is tied for 25th at 1-over 145 (73-72). Kang opened with nine pars on the front 9 and had a pair of birdies to offset a double bogey on the back.

    First-year Trojans Paul Smith (75-75) and Danny Ochoa (76-74) are tied for 59th at 5-over 150.

    USC begins its final-round action at 10:10 a.m. CT.
