USC freshman and The Netherlands native Tim Sluiter was one of eight collegiate players selected to play for the European team in the 2008 Palmer Cup it was announced on Wednesday (April 30).

The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 26-27 on the 6,903 yard, par 71 Glasgow G.C. Gailes Links when the top collegiate players from the United States tee off against their counterparts from Europe.

Joining Sluiter are Jonas Blixt of Florida State, Stirling's Scott Borrowman, Johnnie Caldwell of South Alabama, Indiana's Jorge Campillo, Jonas Enander Hedin of Charlotte, Tennessee's Charlie Ford and Gareth Shaw of East Tennessee State.

Sluiter has been a major contributor in his first season with the Trojans. He recorded his first collegiate victory with a 4-over 218 at the USC Collegiate, coming from behind with a final-round 1-under 70. He tied for seventh at the U.S. Intercollegiate, tied for ninth at the CordeValle Collegiate (which included a final-round 69), tied for 11th at the Fall Preview and tied for 14th at the Inverness Intercollegiate. He fired a season-low 67 at the UH Hilo Collegiate and tied it at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships (where he finished 32nd). He has four rounds in the 60s.
