June 23, 2016
Junior Rico Hoey, who will represent the U.S. in the Arnold Palmer Cup that starts Friday, earned PING All-American second team honors while freshman Justin Suh was selected to the honorable mention squad, the GCAA announced today (June 23).
This marks Hoey’s third consecutive All-American nod. He was an honorable mention pick last year as a sophomore and was third team as a 2014 freshman.
Hoey led the Trojans with a career-best 70.85 stroke average and also topped the team with 14 rounds in the 60s and nine top 10s. He capped the season by taking second at the 2016 NCAA Championships at 3-under 277 (70-69-69-69), USC’s highest finish since Jamie Lovemark won the title in 2007.
Suh, who played as an amateur in the U.S. Open last week, was third on the team with a stroke average of 72.57, had eight rounds in the 60s and two top 10s, including a tie for 10th at the NCAA Championships at 3-over 283 (68-67-75-73).
