Competing in his final home meet, USC senior co-captain Richard Gosper battled to a pair of second-place finishes in the 50y and 100y freestyle while junior Vanni Mangoni was second in the 200y back and the 200y IM, but the Trojans fell to No. 3 Stanford, 160-129, on Saturday (Feb. 9) at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium.

Gosper was second in the 50y free in 20.17, close to the pool record of 20.05 set by Arizona's Lyndon Ferns on Nov. 19, 2004. Ferns' time, however, was taken down by Stanford's David Dunford, who won the event in 19.96.

Mangoni took second in the 200y back in 1:50.04 as well as touching second in the 200y IM.

Trojan senior Brandon Lovell touched second in the 200y fly in 1:49.65. USC sophomore transfer Zoltan Povazsay was second in the 200y free in 1:39.46 while USC freshman Jake Grosser took second in the 100y back in 51.47.

Competing in an exhibition swim, recent USC graduate Larsen Jensen lowered his own pool record in the 500y free, going 4:14.39. His previous mark was 4:17.09, set two years ago.

USC is next in action at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships, scheduled for March 5-8 at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif.
