Divers Gear, Pollard Qualify For NCAA Championships For First Time

    Senior Jordan Gear and sophomore Collin Pollard each earned their first trip to the NCAA Championships while senior Haley Ishimatsu qualified for it as well on the first day of the NCAA Zone E Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Monday (March 9).

    Gear, a five-time Pac-12 finalist who has come close in the past to making it to NCAAs, finished seventh in today's 1-meter with 662.85 points while Pollard, a nine-time Pac-12 finalist, was third with 743.05.

    Ishimatsu clinched another trip to the NCAA Championships with an eighth-place finish on 3-meter (619.60) while junior Sam Adams finished ninth (591.95), leaving her as first alternate, pending the 1-meter and platform competitions.

    Freshman Dashiell Enos on the men's side is also first alternate after finishing 10th on 1-meter with 646.15 points. Junior Deon Reid was 16th (626.70).

    Junior Natalie Kalibat competed in the 3-meter final and was 16th (563.85). Freshman Alexa Cacao was 39th in prelims.

    The competition continues Tuesday and Wednesday.
