USC won its last team title in 1977 and posted its last top 3 finish in 1990 with a second place. Since 1990, the best USC has done is a quartet of fourth-place finishes in 1991, 2001, 2013 and 2015. The Trojans have won at least one NCAA title in nine of the past 16 seasons. That included three in 2015 when Cristian Quintero, as a senior, won the 200y free and led USC to wins in the 400y and 800y free relays, Troy's ninth NCAA wins in both races. In 2014, Quintero won the 500y free and led USC to a win the 800y free relay. In 2013, junior Vladimir Morozov swept the 50y and 100y freestyles, Troy's first crowns in the events since 1977 and 1974, respectively. Morozov also led USC to its first 400y free relay title since 1977. Troy has also won four 400y medley relays in its NCAA history .... Senior Steven Stumph, the three-time Pac-12 champ in the 200y breast, is seeded sixth in the race in a tough field, eyeing his first A final appearance ... Sophomore Carsten Vissering, the Pac-12 winner in the 100y breast, is the fourth seed in the race after taking 26th last year, though he did score in the 200 ... Redshirt Junior Dylan Carter, second in the 200y free at Pac-12s, is the fourth seed in the 200y free and seeded 11th in the 100y free. He is also looking for his first NCAA A final, as is fellow redshirt junior Santo Condorelli. Condorelli is seeded highest in the 50y free, 22nd. Both Carter (Trinidad and Tobago) and Condorelli (Canada) took off the 2015-16 season while training for the 2016 Olympics ... Sophomore Patrick Mulcare comes in seeded third in the 200y back after winning the race at the 2016 Pac-12s and taking second this year. Senior Reed Malone is a two-time A finalist in the 500y free and did it once in the 200y free. His highest seed entering the meet is 17th in the 500 while he's 24th in the 200 ... Senior Ridge Altman is at his second NCAAs, looking to score for the first time. He's got a good shot in the 200y breast, entered as the 21st seed ... Sophomore Alex Valente will swim both fly events, looking for his first NCAA scoring swim ... Sophomore Kyle Grissom is back as a key relay swimmer while junior Jon Knox returns as a backstroker ... Junior diver Dashiell Enos returns to the NCAAs. The 2-time Pac-12 3-meter champion is looking for his first NCAA scoring result, while freshman Henry Fusaro makes his NCAA debut on both springboards ... USC enters all five relays seeded either ninth or 10th.

Redshirt junior Dylan Carter was also a first-time three-time finalist, highlighted by a school record in the 200y free (1:31.98), good for second in the race.
