TUSCALOOSA, ALA. -- The No. 4 USC men's tennis team extended its shutout streak to four in a row with today's 5-0 takedown of No. 45 host Alabama. USC scooped up the doubles point and then dished out four swift straight-set wins, with the last two finishing just moments apart for the 5-0 finish. USC improves to 16-2 overall with the road win.

"Every guy who played singles for us today was once coached by [current Alabama coach and former USC associate head coach] George Husack, and our play tonight was in honor of him," USC head coach Peter Smith said. "We played a great match - we were ready to play in some very tough conditions. To the team's credit they met the challenges of playing on the road in very cold conditions in spectacular fashion."

USC's doubles domination was kickstarted by Nick Crystal and Roberto Quiroz on a smooth 8-2 win at the No. 3 spot before USC's top guns Yannick Hanfmann and Ray Sarmiento hammered home the doubles point with an 8-6 finish on court one.

USC cruised on into singles and took the first sets in all matches down the line. Eric Johnson hit the finish line first, putting his silencers on for a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Nikko Madregallejo for the junior's eighth consecutive singles win Jonny Wang was in winning form as well on court five as he took out Hayes Brewer 6-2, 6-1, and the Trojans were poised for victory up 3-0. Action came to a close when two Trojans wrapped up their Alabama foes in rapid-fire succession. Ray Sarmiento would be credited with the clincher as he topped Alabama's O'Shaughnessey 6-3, 6-3 on court two just before Roberto Quiroz finished off his clean sweep on court three. Quiroz mirrored Johnson's margin of victory with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Stuart Kenyon to tally the junior's seventh consecutive singles win.

The Trojans now continue their Spring Break in the South with a journey over to Mississippi to face Ole Miss in a 2 p.m. CT match on Wednesday (March 19).
