INDIAN WELLS, CALIF. -- The No. 4 USC men's tennis team zeroed in on a third-place finish at the BNP Paribas Collegiate Tennis Challenge with a 4-0 sweep of No. 29 Columbia today in Indian Wells. The Trojans zipped through to the doubles point before locking in three straight-set singles wins to secure a swift victory and improve to 14-3 overall on the year.

After yesterday's 4-3 loss to No. 3 Baylor in the semifinals, the Trojans regrouped for today's clash with Columbia. The doubles point was pocketed with the first two decisions of the day, sparked by #50 Max de Vroome and Eric Johnson's 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot. On court one, USC's #4 senior duo of Yannick Hanfmann and Roberto Quiroz registered the first point with a 7-5 win on court one, and the teams were on to singles action.

Johnson, Hanfmann and de Vroome would each follow through on the momentum built during doubles to hit the finish line for the Trojan cause. Johnson was the first to pin up a win, surrendering only a single game to his Lion opponent to secure a 2-0 lead for USC on his 6-0, 6-1 victory on court three. At the No. 1 spot, #8 Hanfmann was similarly strong as he whipped up a 6-2, 6-1 win over #16 Winston Lin to make it 3-0 Trojans. Coming through with the clincher was #50 junior de Vroome, whose 7-6, 6-4 win over Mike Vermeer put an end to the action in Indian Wells with the Trojans' 14th victory of the year.

USC now returns home to Marks Stadium for a pair of Pac-12 contests next weekend. The Trojans host Washington at 3 p.m. on Friday (March 29) and then take on Oregon at 12 p.m. on Saturday (March 30) to kick off their Pac-12 portion of the calendar.
